Nick Jonas Wedding Photos

Nick Jonas’ Wedding to Priyanka Chopra

Everyone loves a fairytale love story and magical wedding so when celebrities announce their engagements we all SWOON about the details.

I never really was a huge fan or follower of the Jonas brothers, I am a little older to have been crazy about them during their popular days. But none the less, their music was good. And I must say that the brothers including Nick Jonas seemed to be humble nice guys.

Of course being in the wedding industry means I am even more intrigued by the Nick Jonas wedding. My main interest of course is the Brides dress! And oh my gosh, Priyanka Chopra did not disappoint!

Celebrity weddings are always over the top and that is why we love them. They do things that the average Joe cannot. Luxury and expense seems to take a back seat when it comes to planning celebrity weddings. And we LOVE it!

So I couldn’t wait for December 1, 2018 the day of Nick Jonas’ wedding to Priyanka Chopra. And again really all I wanted to see was the Bride, her dress and accessories. But to my surprise I was blown away by every little inch of the wedding event.

Due to Priyanka’s nationality their wedding could not just be the typical “western wedding”. No way was there only going to be a 15 ceremony and 5 hour reception.

No! Not for this dynamic couple!

The typical couple in the United States has one day to stress over and plan. Nick and Priyanka’s wedding  lasted 4 days! That is amazing!

Check Out The Full Wedding Schedule:

day 1 ~ November 30th

Sangeet

The couple hosted a traditional pre-wedding celebration called a Sangeet. This is a celebration a very festive affair filled with dance and music. Guests were expected to rock festive resort wear.

day 2 ~ December 1st

Planning Your Italian Destination Wedding From The Comfort Of Your Home

Today was a slower than usual Saturday at our bridal boutique so it gave me extra time to interact with and get to know our Brides more and I couldn’t have been happier. Such lovely young ladies, with truly amazing love stories, shared all of their dreams and plans for their upcoming weddings.

Selling Wedding Dress Online – Beware of Scams

Scammers are everywhere! Sell Smart! Protect Yourself!

In our society today, unfortunately, there are many unsavory people that want to cheat and steal their way through life.

Tips for Selling Wedding Dresses Online and Not Getting Scammed

  • #1 If it sounds too good to be true, it is! End of story.
  • Never accept Checks
  • If someone “overpays” and then requests you return the overpaid amount log into your PayPal account to verify the funds are there and contact PayPal to see how you should proceed.
  • Cashier checks should be verified as legitimate with your bank before shipping gown
  • Implement a waiting period before shipping gown to ensure banks and PayPal can have time to verify funds before you ship your gown.
  • Never send Cash or refund any amount to a buyer. Real Buyers don’t overpay!!
  • Don’t give out personal information. Do all communication through Sell My Dress
  • If someone is very pushy they are probably trying to scam you.

Many times overpayments are a way that people practice fraud…the money you think they sent (including the overpayment never really gets to you, but you ship the dress and refund the overpaid amount….you are out all the way around. So make sure to contact PayPal to confirm the funds are legitimate and then ask them how to proceed. PayPal will never request any money to release a hold on a transaction.

Cashiers checks are safer than regular checks but can still be fraudulent. If you can, ask for the cashiers check to be drawn on a local bank so that you can go into the local branch. That bank will be in a better position to tell you whether the check is one they issued and is genuine. Never send or return cash.

Always use UPS or Fedex to ship gown and request a signature. You don’t want your dress left at the doorstep for someone else to walk away with. And if you find out it was a scam after you ship the dress you should be able to contact the shipping company and ask them to intercept the package and return it to you.

There are thousands of sneaky techniques that these scammers use to cheat innocent people. If you are at all suspicious then something is probably wrong. Email us immediately at info@sellmydress.com. We can check our database to see if this user is reaching out to multiple users trying to scam them also.

We want you to find the perfect Bride for your wedding dress not a scammer.

Email any inquiries or suspicions to info@sellmydress.com

What To Do With Your Wedding Dress After The Wedding

SellMyDress.com

Your magical wedding day is over, now what do you do with your wedding dress?

After dreaming of the perfect wedding dress, shopping for months and pinning thousands of Pinterest photos you finally found the dress for you! Your husband couldn’t hold back the tears, Mom and Dad were proud and heartbroken at the same time. All of your friends swooned over your gown and how beautifully radiant you looked and then in a flash it was over.

So what do you do with your wedding dress after the wedding? I am sure you would love to wear it every day at least until it no longer fits. But that probably isn’t an option. After all, I am not sure how many businesses would allow you to come to work in your wedding dress. And errands would be hard to do with a wedding dress on. So exactly what are your options?

Keep It In The Closet

Of course, the easiest thing to do is just hang it in your closet. This is great because at any time you can take it out, swoon over it, put it on and reminisce about the big day. Reality is you probably won’t have time to try it on or swoon over it so all it is going to do is take up space in your closet (which we all know is the valuable real estate in your household).

Sell Your Wedding Dress Online

Not every Bride has an emotional connection with their wedding dress so after the wedding is over, there is no reason to keep it. One of the most popular things to do with your wedding dress after the wedding is Sell it! Yes, that is right! Modern-day Brides want to recoup some of the money they spent on the wedding by selling their wedding gown online as well as many other wedding decorations. The number one website to sell your wedding dress is www.sellmydress.com This website is dedicated to helping the newly married Brides find the perfect engaged Bride to buy their dress. Donate Your Wedding Dress To Charity

How to Move Dated Inventory in Your Bridal Store Faster by Selling Online

Whether you just bought or opened a bridal boutique or you have been doing this for 40 years, you know there are struggles and roadblocks when it comes to marketing, getting more Brides into your store, and increasing profits. Do you ever feel like nothing you are doing is working? I know in my twelve years in this business I have scratched my head many times and asked why is this not working?

If you work in the bridal business then you know that we have to order inventory for our boutiques twice a year, the Spring and Fall Seasons. Depending on how many designers you carry this can quickly snowball into a store busting at the seams with wedding dress samples. So what do you do?

There are many bridal stores that operate with a business plan that is intended to sell their wedding gown inventory out of stock versus using them as store inventory and placing orders for each Bride to get and wear a brand new wedding dress for her wedding. There are many advantages of operating your boutique this way with the top two being inventory management and being able to sell to any Bride including the ones with quick wedding dates. But there are also many, many disadvantages; you may not have the size or color she wants, bad or wrong inventory purchases and constant repair and cleaning of stock are just a few.

Other bridal boutiques purchase sample gowns each season to use for Brides to try on and then they take measurements and order a brand new gown for the Bride to wear. This business model has it’s advantages and disadvantages as well. There will be times where you also purchase a sample that you think will be popular and it isn’t so you receive no return on your investment and there are challenges getting gowns for Brides that have quick weddings and so on.

No matter which business model you use for your lovely Bridal Boutique challenges are real and inventory management is at the top of the list. Let’s just play with an example (a fake bridal shop). For our example we will base our evaluation on a bridal shop that carries 10 different designers and operates the store by purchasing samples and placing orders for the Brides dress. These wedding dress designers are the top in the industry so they have set requirements for the minimum number of gowns that have to be purchased each season. Each season our fake bridal shop has to order 60 new wedding gown samples to add to their boutique. Yep! That’s right, they will have to order 60 wedding gown samples each season for a total of 120 new samples. Ouch!

How can a small, family run bridal shop be successful purchasing 120 new wedding dress samples each year? Well, that’s easy! Get lots of Brides in to your store and get them to buy. Easier said then done right? I know I say it like it is so easy to get them to shop at “your” boutique and even easier for them to “Say Yes to the Dress”. Successful bridal boutiques should turn their inventory an average of 3 times to be “successful”. Is that happening at your boutique? What do you do when you realize a dress isn’t selling? So many times I ordered gowns thinking Brides were going to love it and order it all the time, boy was I wrong.

As bridal boutique owners and operators we have to get better at managing our inventory. Buying 120 new samples each year costs thousands and thousands of dollars. Buying all these gowns every year also means your store will be overrun by wedding dress samples and will start to look messy and disorganized. Not what a Bride wants to see when she comes into the boutique.

What can you do to manage your inventory better? Here are some of my tips.

  • Once your new samples begin arriving start monitoring the level of interest for them
  • Within two months assess the importance of keeping that sample in your store
  • Look for opportunities to sell the gown out of stock at any time
  • Host a bridal gown sample sale to get rid of discontinued or not popular inventory
  • Utilize the internet to list and sell your samples

In a future post we will go into more detail about each of these bullet points but today we will address the last one.

If you have a website for your store that allows you to put your dresses on there and list them for sale you should do it right away! But make sure you do it right. There are several pieces of information about your dress that needs to be included for the big search engines to find it. You can contact me for more info on how to do this (info@sellmydress.com).

Look for opportunities to list your wedding gown inventory for sale on websites that focus solely on selling wedding dresses. Managing your wedding gown inventory can be as easy as creating an account on sellmydress.com and listing your gowns. Sell My Dress does all of the SEO work for you! All you have to do is upload the details on the gown including some pictures, set the price and wait for Brides to find you. And the beauty of all of it is these Brides won’t even be local to your area. With all of the technology and SEO work built into their website Brides will be able to find you from all over the U.S and abroad. Talk about easy! What are you waiting for?

Check out these real testimonials.

“We have really busy bridal boutiques that make dreams come true every day for our local Brides but every year we have so many samples in our store that we are busting at the seams. We host sample sales which helps get rid of them but we needed another avenue to sell our wedding gown samples. Searching the internet we found www.sellmydress.com and decided to list some of our dresses. It didn’t take long! We have sold three of our wedding gown samples in only 45 days. I highly recommend trying this website, it will work for you too.” CC’s Boutique

“Our store is cozy and small so it is important for us to keep selling our samples out of stock. In the store we are able to do it once and a while but wanted a way to reach more Brides. We stumbled on www.sellmydress.com and thought what the heck, we can try it. We started with just one dress and it sold pretty quickly so we added a few more. Brides are able to find us online and message us with questions. It is easy and without this site we couldn’t be connecting with Brides across the country. Glad we took a chance. Oh, and the best part you list your dress which take about 3-5 minutes and then sit back and they do all the work, and their fees are less than other sites that are similar. We will continue to use them.” Ivory & Lace

Why Prince Harry and Megan are getting married so fast

St George's Chapel

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced their engagement!!! Oh Yes!! Who doesn’t love a fairytale story, an American Princess after all these years. I can’t wait!

After I heard the news of Prince Harry and Meghan’s engagement, my memories went back to the day that Lady Diana Spencer married the Prince of Wales, Charles on July 29, 1981 at St Paul’s Cathedral. I was glued to the t.v. as most of America and the world was (actually 750 million people watched). This special day had to be the Wedding of the Century. Every single little detail was magical. She was glowing, he looked debonair in his uniform and the thousands and thousands of on lookers outside the church, Buckingham Palace and lining the streets helped to create the feeling of “only once in a lifetime” can we experience something like this. My inner little girl spirit was memorized.

For years Princess Diana captured the world with her heart, her quiet voice, beautiful smile and genuine spirit of giving. I was much younger then as was she, so I watched her blossom into such a beautiful woman, wife and mother. I followed her story, stared at her photos and dreamed of what her life must be like. It wasn’t til much later and even after her tragic death that we learned her life wasn’t the fairytale we all thought it was. Being in the royal family has definite challenges. But my adoration of her never changed, the things we learned never tarnished her image in my opinion. She was still and always will be one person that I feel impacted and touched my soul.

So fast forward many years and her children are all grown up. And following in their Mother’s footsteps, they have blossomed into respectful young men. Princess Diana really made an impact on them and the world is a better place because of it. They continue to give back to the world as she did and I am sure each and every day she smiles at them from heaven. I imagine if they were to sit quietly without any noise or distraction from the world they would feel her presence near them and in them…maybe a flutter of their heart or a warm feeling inside…maybe even a slight breathe close to their ears. No matter what I am sure she is proud of them.

So what can we expect from Prince Harry’s wedding? Prince William and Kate had a stunning event but for whatever reason it didn’t capture my attention as much as Lady Diana’s story. Maybe Meghan and Prince Harry will be able to capture the world’s spirit. Do you think it is possible? I really don’t think it can be the same fairytale wedding as Lady Diana but for sure I think it could be close. But really the BIG question is “why are Prince Harry and Meghan getting married so fast?”

In my line of work….the wedding industry…quick weddings mean 1 of 2 things. 1. Bride is pregnant or 2. Someone in the family is terminally ill. So which one is it? Well Prince Harry has a super close relationship with his 96 year old Grandfather and wants very much for him to be at his wedding so that could be the reason for the whirl wind engagement and quick wedding. BUT rumors also exist that Meghan is pregnant….Oh the royal family would just be nuts if that was true!

Brides dressed to Kill in pants

Wedding pants suit

Everything we know about weddings starts with the fairytale idea of a beautiful bride floating on air in a gorgeous wedding dress. As little girls our visions include Brides draped in flowing tulle veils, wearing stunning ballgowns made with luxurious fabrics with delicate beaded details, makeup and hair flawless and just killing it.

Fast forward to 2017 and the wedding dress isn’t the only option. We are seeing Brides of all backgrounds dropping the tradition of wearing a formal wedding dress and opting for a dramatic, sophisticated and stylish ivory or white pant suit. I love this idea!

I first stumbled on this idea while dreaming of the day I would marry my husband. We knew we weren’t going to do a formal big ceremony and reception (why waste $30k, we could save that for our retirement). We wanted small, just the two of us and probably would do it at the local court house. So I googled (my favorite search engine, because Yes! Google knows everything!) lace pants and found this fashion forward lace jumpsuit by J. Crew. I was hooked!

J Crew Wedding Jumpsuit

Since then I have seen more and more Brides forgo the fuss of the wedding dress. Skipping all the drama that surrounds shopping for a wedding dress, not to mention the prices that wedding gowns cost.

Brides wearing pants…is it for you?

Today there are many options. Modern day Brides want to do one thing, be unique and themselves. We are seeing people getting married later in life or getting married for the 2nd and 3rd time. So the fluff and tradition of the wedding gown may not be for them. And we are all for it! Skip the walk down the aisle in flowing tulle and opt for a more modern, sleek, sexy and sophisticated wedding pant suit. Whether you are an older bride, or young, straight or gay there are many options other than a dress.

Kendra White Lace Jumpsuit

At our local bridal boutique we are honored to work with many brides marrying their true life partner and yes! many times it is another woman. So what do they wear? Do both Brides wear wedding dresses? The answer is…it is different for each couple. Some have chosen to both shop at our boutique, both select beautiful free spirited and effortless boho inspired wedding dresses. Another couple chose a traditional wedding gown and a more modern fitted lace silhouette and then we have had others that one wears a simple lace wedding dress that is totally romantic and the spouse wore a grey suit. Whatever your flavor rock it with style!

Me personally I LOVEEEE the sleek and sophisticated Ivory Pant or Jumpsuit. Hmmm maybe I can convince my husband do renew our vows so I can wear one…stay tuned…I will let you know if I convince him 🙂

So, go ahead…Be a rebel! Set your own trends and be uniquely you!

Color Trends for Weddings

Growing up my favorite color was green. I know, sounds crazy huh? Not many people like the color of green and I would like to say that I had an exciting reason for liking Green like because it is the color of money or because I am a nature lover, but the truth is as a young lady I just wanted to be different so I chose a color that wasn’t as popular with other people. LOL I know….

Now that I am grown up (or maybe growing up) and experiencing the world I find myself still drawn to the color green (although my favorite color now may be pink). Over the past 12 years I have gotten closer to God and seeing things as simple as the wind blowing in the trees and the rain falling from the skies gives me a sense of joy and excitement. I have always been simple and down to earth so connecting with all God’s creations is easy for me but joining the wedding industry twelve years ago was an eye opener.

So many people obsess about every minor detail. They are dramatic and over-the-top. Thinking only about themselves and how others see them….forgetting about the big picture; loving God, your neighbor and our earth.

Wedding budgets are out of control and a lot of it is spent on flowers. Yes! Flowers….these stunning organic beauties are super expensive when you connect them with a wedding or holiday. I mean, come on….who decided that a dozen red roses are $9.99 on any random day but put a name like Valentines Day or Mothers Day on the calendar and the price jumps to $50 per dozen or even $75. It is just ridiculous!

So, I am excited to see that many Brides and Grooms are choosing to go green with their weddings, skipping the floral explosion of color. Many times we forget that all things that God created are beautiful. We don’t have to always get the most expensive or newest item. Lush green garland, simple baby’s breathe, or delicate succulents can create a magical and memorable wedding for you and your guests.

After all isn’t the wedding about the sharing of your Vows? The joining of two people into one? Not how much did you spend on the dress, the flowers, the venue but do you truly love each other and can your journey through life sustain today’s negativity and drama.

So go ahead, choose a venue that has beautiful decor from the earth. Decorate it with simple yet gorgeous accents of greenery and enjoy the true beauty of Love.

Ivory and Lace Bridal Tampa

Wilderly Bride – Willow

During a visit to the Atlanta Bridal Market in August I walked into the Allure Bridal Showroom and was knocked off my feet….they had set up a beautiful display of ethereal, boho-chic, effortless wedding gowns surrounded by a magical and stunning ad campaign.

I never imagined that the company that has always been stuck to their roots of more tried and true traditional wedding gown elements would create and introduce the most amazing bohemian inspired wedding dress collection, Wilderly Bride…but they did!!! And I couldn’t be more excited!

These gowns are lightweight, offer minimal structure and have the most delicate and intricate laces. Some are perfectly accented with delightful fluttery sleeves, or a daring low back but each and every gown screams of their own unique personality. I can’t even decide which one is my favorite.

Ivory and Lace Bridal Tampa

Wedding Emergency Kit

Your wedding is one of the most important days of your life and while we all hope it is perfect you should probably prepare just in case it isn’t. Here are a few ideas to keep you on track and free from stress.

Having a Wedding Day Timeline is essential. This guide should have a list of things that need to be done and an order of what should be done and when. This will not only help eliminate stress for the Bride but give your Bridesmaids a list of things that they can help with. The last thing you want to do on your wedding day is to be answering a thousands questions and having to give orders about what to do. Just make a list and have it visible for everyone….then let them assist in getting everything done.

Now that timeline will help tremendously but what happens if God forbid, you get a stain on your dress while you are getting dressed? Or someone gets a huge blister because of their new shoes? Prepare in advance and have an emergency kit on hand.

You can DIY your Wedding Emergency Kit, it’s easy. Add your personal style by putting it into a cute mason jar (like seen on the Elena of ‘A Cassarella ) or a cute rustic box (find them at Michaels).

Your Wedding Day Emergency Kit should include:

  • Tide-to-go
  • Rubbing alcohol (believe it or not this can get most small spots of wedding dresses)
  • Baby power (this can help absorb makeup from wedding dresses, but tip it takes some time)
  • Bobby pings
  • Band-aids
  • Clear Nail polish
  • Tweezers (you might have a rogue hair somewhere)
  • Tissues
  • Safety pins (what if someones zipper breaks or strap)
  • Needle and thread (for minor tweaks if needed)
  • Fashion Tape (you can get this at Target)
  • Aspirin (maybe allergy pills too, you never know what kind of perfumes will be around)

Not a DIYer? You can also buy pre-made Wedding Day Emergency Kits at Pinch Provisions or even Amazon

Hoping for a picture perfect wedding day for you all!

Featured Wedding: Eco-Friendly Florida Wedding

It is our pleasure to spend our days working with some of the best vendors in the wedding industry. The best of the best can truly be found in Florida so we are pleased to share some of our favorite Featured Weddings.

This lovely Eco-Friendly Florida Wedding has been featured on Swooned Magazine and Aisle Society, two of our favorite blogs.

The journey for us began when Krista came into local affiliate bridal shop, CC’s Bridal Boutique in September 2016. She had a definite idea of what type of bridal gown she wanted to wear so our job was just to find her the right gown with all the delicate details she was dreaming of. The story of Krista and Joe was not quite as easy. After meeting on the job at a clothing boutique in Tampa Joe was immediately mesmerized by Krista’s beautiful smile and spirit. Krista was impressed too because Joe had such a kind heart, and his fluency in Spanish excited her.

So did they hit it off right away and start the fairytale life? No, it didn’t quite happen that way. It would take Joe six more years to even gain the courage to ask Krista for a date! Story goes like this he asked, she said No. He asked again, and again Krista said No….again and again he asked, a total of 6 times and then finally a Yes! LOL funny how life happens isn’t it? Fast forward to the Big day…4/22/17.

The Bride and Groom woke up at the breathtaking and historic Vinoy Resort in Downtown, St Petersburg, Fl. They enjoyed the beautiful day with friends and family, got pampered with hair and makeup. The pair tied the knot on what else but Earth Day in the foliage-filled garden of Florida’s Museum of Fine Arts.

The Vinoy Resort

Historic Resort St Petersburg, FL

Krista is passionate about environmentalism, and she strove to plan an eco-conscious day filled with green details, from plantable invitations made out of bee-friendly wildflower seed paper to everlasting florals crafted out of recycled and sustainable materials. What a magical way to share your love for the environment but by using your wedding invitations to inspire your friends and family to plant wild flowers. A crafty and easy way, simply save our wedding invitation, plant it, water the area and watch wild flowers bloom. My mind was blown when I read about this. Someone ingeniously laced these invitation cards with wildflower seeds (and they are recycled paper). Genius!

plantable wildflower wedding invitations   plantable wildflower wedding invitations

Krista and Joe continued the eco-friendly theme by incorporating both fresh and faux flowers. They chose Wonderland Floral Art for the fresh flowers and the faux flowers were made with salvaged and recycled material…keeping true to Krista’s beliefs.

Our lovely and beautiful Bride, Krista wore a stunning Stella York wedding dress crafted with the most delicate lace. It is a simple yet sophisticated (and a little sexy) wedding dress with dainty straps made by utilizing the scalloped edge of the lace. These delightful straps flow perfectly into a dramatic yet tasteful low back and amazing long, sheer lace train. Truly a wedding dress fit for a dream wedding and gorgeous Bride….Stella York 6247 couldn’t have been more perfect for Krista.

Keeping with the earthy vibe, Krista and Joe helped the bridal party pick out bridesmaid dresses that they could mix and match but be flattering and comfortable on each of the bridesmaid dresses. Featuring lovely shades of blush and rose gold the bridesmaids added a beautiful complement to the Bride and Groom.

Krista is a saavy and crafty Bride so she made the arch where they joined together to become one, she hand made a beautiful donut wall to invite guests to treat themselves…and they provided beautiful and sentimental gifts to each of the guests introducing each of them to a little of her culture from the Philippines. These gifts were individually wrapped lotus votive holders featuring petals that were made out of blush-stained capiz shells—a popular decoration on the islands.
